Haymaker had a delicious brunch in Charlotte and there was no wait on the weekend (wild, I know). We had the doughnuts which were pillowy and delicious and topped with some incredible apple butter. I also had the breakfast plate which came with cheesy eggs, hash browns, bacon and some herby aioli! All in all, it was a pretty strong breakfast!
Great atmosphere along with amazing staff. The menu has some amazing choices and support the local farms.
I have been to this restaurant before but couldn't quite remember until I got here. The first experience was meh, so I'm glad the second time was better. We sat upstairs for my friend's bday brunch and the aesthetics of the restaurant is beautiful. I loved how the upstairs looked especially. Our waiter was pleasant but he seemed very task oriented and not engaging. Nonetheless, he was very informative that the bar was backed up so drinks may be coming slow which was not a problem. I got a lemon drop martini which was really good and not too strong. It had the perfect amount of tart and sweetness. I had the haymakers breakfast and it was pretty good. It was just eggs, bacon and potatoes which you can get anywhere but everything was cooked perfectly. The eggs were scrambled with cheese, they were fluffy but I will say needed a little seasoning. Good thing is the bacon added the perfect amount of saltiness to the eggs. The bacon was crispy how I like it so it was crunchy and easy to eat. The potatoes were so good, I loved how crispy they were and they were seasoned fairly well. I may come back since the second time did make up for the first time so we shall see but this time alone, I'd give it a 8/10.
There's a paid parking lot right hr across the street. We lucked out with free street parking. Not busy at all, got seated right away. Staff is super nice! Great place for brunch, birthday, or a meal with friends. High ceilings inside and a ton of windows make for a great vibe. Not too loud but the tables are somewhat close to each other. We got the beignets, Haymaker breakfast and biscuits and gravy. Overall food was great! Beignets should almost be saved for dessert. The gravy had a great flavor but the sausage bites were mini. The cheese grits are 10/10 and bacon/eggs were as expected.
What a wonderful way to end our weekend getaway in Charlotte! We had an amazing breakfast experience. From our greeting with the hostess to our most attentive waitstaff, Jacob, we had a wonderful dining experience. Both my husband and I had a mimosa to start the morning. Next we had the beignets that were hot, fluffy, crispy pillows of dough! Great gift as we're repping our local team -"Go Birds" Thanks Nick!!The apple jam with the beignets was a perfect pairing. We both had the Haymaker breakfast. Eggs the way you like them, thick cut bacon, light and fluffy biscuit, and the most buttery crisp breakfast potatoes! We won't need to eat for the rest of the day!! If you are in Charlotte be sure to stop at Haymaker!
